R3 Lithium seeks to build battery recycling ecosystem in Vietnam

Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyễn Văn Thắng met with Linh Austin, CEO of the US-based company R3 Lithium, to discuss potential cooperation in building a battery recycling and essential mineral processing ecosystem in Vietnam.

Austin highlighted Vietnam’s rapid electrification of transport and its commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2050 as key drivers for demand in battery materials. R3 Lithium aims to move beyond simple supply chains to establish a comprehensive recycling and reuse ecosystem for batteries and critical minerals.

Deputy Prime Minister Thắng emphasized that Vietnam views the United States as a strategic partner and is prioritizing high-tech, deep-processing projects that integrate research, development, and technology transfer. This aligns with Vietnam’s goal to integrate more deeply into global technology supply chains.

Separately, at the 7th Regional Logistics Forum, Deputy Prime Minister Hồ Quốc Dũng addressed the need to transform the Red River Delta's logistics sector. He called for a shift from mere management to a service-oriented approach, focusing on synchronized infrastructure and digital transformation to enhance national economic competitiveness.
