Vietnam Deputy Prime Ministers review regional expressway investment

Deputy Prime Ministers Phạm Gia Túc and Nguyễn Văn Thắng chaired a meeting with the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Finance and other agencies to assess and prioritize investment in regional expressways. The ministry reports that Vietnam currently operates 3,345 km of expressways, has 1,252 km under construction and plans about 1,721 km of new projects, including 1,165 km linked to the Party’s 14th Congress action plan. If all projects are completed, the network will reach roughly 5,962 km by 2030, exceeding the 5,000 km target. Investment criteria focus on two‑lane routes in economic corridors, high traffic demand, and connections to ports and economic zones, with a push to upgrade two‑lane sections to full four‑lane standards. Specific proposals include expanding the Dầu Giây‑Tân Phú, Bảo Lộc‑Liên Khương and Mỹ An‑Cao Lãnh corridors, and using public‑private financing and tolls for the Hanoi‑Ho Chi Minh City north‑south axis.
