Vietnam develops AI education framework and smart learning platform
Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training is developing a national artificial intelligence education framework to guide teachers and students in using AI effectively, responsibly, and equitably. The initiative includes nationwide teacher training programs to help educators integrate AI into lesson preparation and classroom instruction. Additionally, the ministry is piloting a national ‘smart’ education platform involving two universities in Hanoi, which aims to function as a virtual tutor and knowledge repository.
Despite the rapid adoption of technology, educators have noted challenges regarding students' critical thinking skills. Some lecturers report encountering AI-generated essays that appear ‘too perfect,’ exhibiting linguistic patterns such as formulaic structures and highly academic registers that do not match a student’s typical writing style. Experts suggest that while students are quick to adapt to AI, further measures are needed to help them identify unsupported information and use these tools as aids rather than replacements for independent thought.
