Vietnam digital economy reaches $39 billion amid rising connectivity
Vietnam's digital economy is experiencing significant growth, with estimates from Google, Temasek, and Bain & Company placing its value at $39 billion in 2025, representing a 17 percent year-on-year increase. E-commerce accounts for approximately two-thirds of this total value.
As of the end of 2025, Vietnam recorded 85.6 million internet users, covering 84.2 percent of the population, alongside 79 million social media identities. This high level of connectivity presents both opportunities and challenges for international brands. While the market is highly reachable, successful localization remains difficult due to complex consumer purchase journeys that span multiple platforms, including TikTok, Google, Facebook, and Zalo.
In the broader economic landscape, Vietnam reported a record high import-export turnover of $770.14 billion in the first eight months of 2026, a 28.7 percent increase year-on-year. Additionally, the number of newly registered businesses rose by 7.7 percent during the same period, with total registered capital reaching nearly 65.9 billion USD.
