Vietnam digital technology industry sees significant growth in 2026
Vietnam's digital technology industry is experiencing significant growth. According to Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Hoàng Minh, the sector's revenue reached over 5.44 quadrillion VND in the first nine months of 2026, marking a 34.8% increase compared to the same period last year. Hardware and electronics exports totaled approximately 176.82 billion USD. The country currently hosts about 82,723 digital technology enterprises with a workforce of roughly 2 million people.
To maintain this momentum, officials emphasize that businesses must transition from merely using technology to mastering and creating it. Key areas for development include large language models, Vietnamese virtual assistants, AI-powered cameras, autonomous robots, 5G equipment, and drones. Experts suggest that combining smart software with hardware, AI chips, and the Internet of Things (IoT) will increase the value of ‘Make in Viet Nam’ products.
In the consumer technology market, wearable devices are evolving beyond simple fitness tracking into comprehensive health and lifestyle tools. Huawei has emerged as a major player in this space, capturing over 20% of the global wrist-worn wearable market share in the first half of 2026, according to IDC data.
