Vietnam prepares infrastructure and safety measures for National Day holiday

Vietnam is implementing comprehensive measures to prepare for the five-day National Day holiday from August 29 to September 2, 2026. Authorities are focusing on transportation, tourism safety, and infrastructure readiness to accommodate a projected surge in travelers.

In Ho Chi Minh City, public transport is being scaled up, with free bus and metro services expected to serve approximately 280,000 passengers daily. The Ministry of Construction has ordered a temporary halt on construction projects that could cause traffic congestion on major routes and has called for strict inspections of transport safety.

To support long-distance travel, the Vietnam Department of Roads is pushing for the rapid completion of essential services, such as fuel and dining facilities, at rest stops along the North-South Expressway. Meanwhile, the National Authority of Tourism has issued warnings against unregulated tours organized by social media influencers and has instructed local provinces, including Khanh Hoa, to monitor service prices and ensure safety standards at tourist sites.

Retail and consumer sectors are also preparing for increased activity, with businesses launching themed products and services to stimulate demand during the holiday period.
