Vietnam discusses pilot policies for Moc Bai and Lao Cai border economic zones

Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc chaired a meeting to discuss pilot mechanisms and policies for the Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone and the cross-border economic cooperation zone at the Lao Cai International Land Port.

In Tay Ninh province, officials proposed researching the establishment of a free trade zone at Moc Bai and implementing a “one-stop, one-stop” customs clearance model with Cambodia. While trade through Moc Bai has increased, the province aims to improve investment attraction by enhancing transport connectivity, developing logistics, and transitioning toward smart border gates. The government emphasized that new policies must align with existing laws and balance economic development with national defense, security, and environmental protection.

Additionally, in Hanoi, the Dong Anh Electrical Equipment Corporation commenced a national-level science and technology project focused on the research, design, and manufacturing of 500kV shunt reactors. This project is intended to foster collaboration between the state, scientific institutions, and enterprises to drive national innovation and digital transformation.
