Vietnam discusses strategic planning and industrial innovation
Vietnam is focusing on strategic planning and innovation to drive sustainable growth and new economic models. At a recent forum, Nguyen Thanh Nghi, Head of the Central Policy and Strategy Board, emphasized the need to reform planning mindsets to organize development spaces effectively and enhance regional connectivity. He outlined four key directions: ensuring planning precedes development to create growth momentum, utilizing urban centers as regional hubs, organizing national space through substantive regional links, and integrating ecological limits and climate change resilience into the planning process.
In Ho Chi Minh City, officials are looking to transform the region into a space for next-generation industrial development. Truong Minh Huy Vu, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, stated that future growth must rely on innovation combined with economic, industrial, and urban sectors. The city currently hosts over 40 innovation hubs and incubators, many of which collaborate with international corporations to connect research with market needs. Following integration with Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau, the city aims to reorganize production spaces and develop high-tech and digital industrial zones.
