Vietnam drives green industry, digital transformation and airline fleet expansion
Vietnam is emerging as a strategic market in Southeast Asia for clean‑energy and low‑carbon industrial gas solutions, with international firms increasing investments in the sector. The government has approved 34 new special administrative procedures for the Da Nang free‑trade zone, aiming to boost foreign investment and trade. A large green‑equipment exhibition in Hanoi attracted nearly 1,600 partners from 62 countries, highlighting the country’s push for modernised industrial equipment.
The Hanoi municipal authority announced a plan to develop the night‑economy as a new growth engine, targeting a 5 % contribution to the city’s GRDP. Meanwhile, the VETC charging platform, launched a month ago, now connects over 350 charging stations, covering roughly half of Vietnam’s multi‑brand electric‑vehicle network. In aviation, Vietnam Airlines signed agreements to lease 19 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, expanding its fleet for regional routes. The nation’s fertilizer exports surged 52 % in volume and more than doubled in value, reaching 1.7 million tonnes worth USD 933 million in the first half of the year. Export trade with Turkey grew 32 % year‑on‑year, and durian remains a key agricultural export with strong outlook. Rail tourism is being revitalised through heritage and commuter trains, and a drug bust in Yên An province seized more than 15,000 synthetic drug pills.
