Vietnam economic growth forecast raised to 7.4% by World Bank

Vietnam is experiencing robust economic momentum, with the World Bank raising its 2026 GDP growth forecast to 7.4%, the highest in the East Asia-Pacific region. This growth is driven by high-tech manufacturing, particularly products related to artificial intelligence (AI), and strong export performance in electronics and machinery. Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the first half of 2026 reached a five-year high.

Regional economic indicators show positive trends across the country. Hanoi reported a third-quarter GRDP increase of 10.02%, while Da Nang saw a GRDP growth of 10.3%. In the industrial sector, Lam Dong's industrial production index rose by 12.02%, bolstered by the expansion of the bauxite-alumina-aluminum value chain. Additionally, agricultural, forestry, and fishery exports reached $56.3 billion in the first nine months of the year, contributing significantly to the national trade surplus.

To support this expansion, Vietnamese banks are actively seeking international capital. Major institutions including HDBank, VPBank, and MB are securing billions of dollars through syndicated loans and international bond issuances to fund sustainable development and SME lending. Meanwhile, customs authorities in key regions are implementing risk-based management to expedite clearance for compliant businesses, facilitating smoother trade flows.
