Vietnam Electricity Group Boosts Power Output and Posts Record Profit in 2025
The Mong Duong 1 coal‑fired power plant, operated by EVNGENCO3 under the direction of Vietnam Electricity (EVN), ramped up generation to meet the 2026 summer‑peak demand. By 31 May 2026 the plant had produced about 3.33 billion kWh, reaching 46.7 % of its annual target and meeting all technical and environmental standards, including full utilization of ash disposal capacity and lowered cooling‑water temperatures.
In the same period EVN released its audited 2025 consolidated financial statements, showing a net profit after tax of VND 51.881 trillion – more than six times the previous year’s result. The earnings eliminated a cumulative loss of VND 38.556 trillion. Total assets rose to VND 783.089 trillion, with cash and bank deposits exceeding VND 152 000 trillion. Revenue reached VND 645.658 trillion, while gross profit climbed 94 % year‑on‑year. The group also reported a significant increase in capital and a series of electricity‑price adjustments approved by the government.
