Vietnam Electricity (EVN) posts record 2025 profit, erases years of losses

The Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) released its audited consolidated financial statements for 2025. Revenue rose 11 % year‑on‑year to 645.658 trillion VND, driven by electricity sales of over 637 trillion VND. After‑tax profit reached a record 51.881 trillion VND, with profit attributable to the parent company of 50.511 trillion VND. The parent‑company report shows after‑tax profit of 39.762 trillion VND and an accumulated loss narrowed to 5.611 trillion VND, eliminating the group’s long‑standing deficit.

Cash, cash equivalents and short‑term investments totalled roughly 152 trillion VND, while term deposits with banks were reported at about 132 trillion VND. EVN noted that short‑term liabilities exceed 227 trillion VND, covering fuel purchases of more than 118 trillion VND and debt repayments of about 47 trillion VND, indicating a continued need for liquidity. Total assets stand at 783 trillion VND and total debt at 339 trillion VND.

EVN clarified differences between the parent‑company and consolidated figures and urged analysts to use the parent‑company report for consistent evaluation. The utility also highlighted the importance of maintaining sizable cash reserves to support ongoing power‑plant and grid‑investment projects and to ensure stable electricity supply amid volatile fuel prices.
