Vietnam Electricity warns of fraudulent app and phishing website

Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and the Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) have issued urgent warnings regarding a new cyber fraud scheme targeting electricity customers. Fraudsters are using a fake website, evnquocgia(. )com, which mimics the official branding, logos, and interface of EVN to deceive users.

The fraudulent site encourages users to download a malicious application named ‘CSKH EVNSPC’. This app is not an official product of the power companies. Once installed, the application can deploy malware capable of reading and stealing OTP authentication messages, overlaying fake interfaces on banking apps to capture login credentials, recording screens, and remotely controlling mobile devices.

Authorities warn that if users grant the necessary permissions to this malicious software, criminals can perform unauthorized transactions and steal funds from bank accounts. EVNSPC advises customers to avoid the fraudulent website, never download APK files from unknown links, and only use official customer service applications available through legitimate stores like Google Play and the App Store.
