Vietnam Electricity warns of fraudulent customer care app scam

Vietnam Electricity (EVN) has issued a high-tech fraud warning regarding the impersonation of its brand and the EVNSPC customer care application. Scammers are using fraudulent websites that mimic EVN’s interface, logos, and branding to deceive users into downloading a malicious application named ‘CSKH EVNSPC’.

These fake applications, often distributed via unauthorized APK files rather than official stores, contain malware designed to steal OTP authentication messages, overlay fake interfaces on banking apps to capture login credentials, and remotely control mobile devices through screen recording and audio interception. This allows criminals to perform unauthorized transactions and steal funds from victims' bank accounts.

EVNSPC emphasizes that its official customer care application is only available through Google Play and the App Store. The company stated it will never request customers to install applications via APK files or send direct download links through social media or text messages. Users who have already installed the fraudulent app are advised to uninstall it immediately, contact their bank to freeze accounts, and report the incident to local police.
