Vietnam Emerges as Global Innovation Partner, Shifts from Tech Consumer to Creator

Vietnam is repositioning itself from a technology‑receiving market to an active participant in the global innovation ecosystem. The Better Choice Awards 2026 highlighted this transition, noting that government policies championing science, technology, innovation and digital transformation have spurred domestic firms to move deeper into research, development, production and export.

Companies such as VinFast illustrate the change: the electric‑vehicle maker now ships models to demanding markets including North America, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, the Middle East and Europe, and recently earned the "Most Impressive New Electric Vehicle" award at Indonesia’s Carvaganza Editors’ Choice Awards 2025. Meanwhile, IT services group FPT has forged partnerships with global leaders like NVIDIA, ASUS and Hewlett Packard Enterprise to build AI factories and expand its cloud, semiconductor and cybersecurity capabilities.

These developments signal Vietnam’s evolution from a consumer and assembly hub to a creator and co‑designer of high‑value technologies such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, cloud computing and electric‑vehicle platforms.
