Vietnam energy market sees rising demand for equipment and infrastructure

Vietnam is facing a significant surge in energy demand, creating substantial opportunities for the energy equipment and integrated system solutions market. According to Vietnam Electricity (EVN), electricity production and imports in the first half of 2026 reached 171.54 billion kWh, a 9.85% increase compared to the previous year, with peak system capacity hitting a record 57,537 MW.

Under the adjusted Power Development Plan VIII, Vietnam aims for commercial electricity to reach between 500.4 and 557.8 billion kWh by 2030. This transition requires an estimated $118.2 billion investment in power sources and $18.1 billion for the transmission grid. The plan also significantly raises energy storage targets to between 10,000 and 16,300 MW by 2030.

To address these needs, the GEEC 2027 exhibition, organized by VEFAC and dmg events, will be held from February 24 to 26, 2027, at the Vietnam Exhibition Center. The event aims to connect domestic investment needs with global energy suppliers. Additionally, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in collaboration with the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), has held discussions regarding the development of offshore wind power and supply chains in Vietnam.
