Vietnam enters global top 10 for mobile and fixed internet speeds

Vietnam has entered the global top 10 for both mobile and fixed internet speeds for the first time, according to the latest rankings from Ookla.

In July, Vietnam's median mobile download speed reached 205.58 Mbps, a significant increase from 156.48 Mbps the previous month. This jump moved the country up 10 positions, from 20th to 10th globally. Mobile upload speeds reached 35.93 Mbps. For fixed broadband, Vietnam achieved a median download speed of 307.11 Mbps, climbing one spot to rank 7th in the world.

Data suggests this surge follows the deployment of 5G networks and the completion of key frequency auctions earlier in 2024. Vietnam was noted as the market with the strongest growth in July, while most other global markets remained relatively stable.
