Vietnam internet speed global ranking increase
Overview
Vietnam has achieved a milestone in digital infrastructure by entering the global top 10 for both mobile and fixed broadband internet speeds.
According to the Speedtest Global Index, mobile download speeds reached a median of 205.58 Mbps, moving the country from 20th to 10th place globally. This represents a significant increase from 54.17 Mbps in September 2024. In the fixed broadband sector, Vietnam ranked 7th globally with a median download speed of 307.11 Mbps.
This rapid growth is attributed to the deployment of 5G networks, strategic investments in digital infrastructure, and increased competition among telecommunications providers. The country’s digital ecosystem is further bolstered by a network of 42 commercial data centers and a high IPv6 adoption rate, which is second in Southeast Asia.
