Vietnam expands airport capacity with Long Thanh International Airport project

Vietnam is accelerating its aviation infrastructure to support its rapid economic growth. The government has launched the Long Thanh International Airport project, the nation’s largest, designed to handle over 100 million passengers and five million tonnes of cargo each year. Parallel upgrades are under way at Da Nang International Airport, while private investors are being encouraged to develop facilities such as Gia Binh International Airport and expand Phu Quoc Airport.

The strategy emphasizes creating smarter, more integrated airports that combine passenger handling, cargo logistics, retail, and ground transport in real time, aiming to strengthen Vietnam’s role as a regional aviation gateway and to sustain foreign investment, tourism, and trade.
