Vietnam expands cultural reach through international collaboration

Vietnam is expanding its cultural footprint through international collaborations and the growth of its creative economy. The “Vietnam en Scène” week in France, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, marks a shift from merely introducing Vietnamese culture to active co-creation with international artists.

Key performances include a production of “Hồn Trương Ba, da hàng thịt” directed by Anne Bouvier and a contemporary musical based on Vietnamese legends by Olivier Dhénin Hữu and Winterreise Theater Company. These efforts aim to make Vietnamese stories more accessible to European audiences through familiar theatrical languages.

Domestically, Vietnam’s cultural industries are emerging as significant economic drivers. The film sector saw domestic market share reach approximately 62% in 2025, with the film “Mưa đỏ” becoming the highest-grossing Vietnamese film to date. Additionally, large-scale music concerts are demonstrating a strong multiplier effect on tourism, hospitality, and retail sectors.
