Vietnam expands E10 biofuel supply and adds six new merchants

One month after nationwide retail sales of E10 gasoline began, Vietnam's Dung Quat refinery has supplied about 92 million litres of biofuel, operating at full capacity to keep both E10 and conventional fuel available. The refinery has upgraded its mixing tanks and distribution pipelines, aiming to raise monthly E10 blending capacity to roughly 360 000 m³.

Starting in July, six additional fuel merchants will join the market, bringing the total number of authorised blending agents to 14. According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, total biofuel consumption nationwide reached about 980 million litres by 28 June, with E10 accounting for 924 million litres (over 96%). All retail fuel stations now sell E10, and major distributors such as Petrolimex and PVOIL are supplying the blend.

Preliminary environmental monitoring shows notable reductions in key pollutants—CO, NO₂, NOx, O₃, SO₂ and particulate matter—in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City since the E10 rollout began, suggesting early air‑quality benefits.
