Vietnam expands health insurance to cover out-of-network care and cancer treatments
Vietnam's universal health insurance scheme is being broadened. Out-of-network (trái tuyến) medical examinations will now receive up to 50% reimbursement, extending financial protection beyond the traditional network of providers.
The coverage expansion also adds reimbursement for cancer treatment and other costly illnesses, aiming to lower the out‑of‑pocket burden for patients and improve access to essential care.
These policy changes are presented as a means to reduce self‑pay medical expenses and provide broader financial safety for the Vietnamese population.
