Vietnam expands major urban roads in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City

The Hanoi People's Committee approved the expansion of Nguyen Tuan street in the Thanh Xuan district, a 720‑metre project costing nearly VND 400 billion. The road will be widened to 21 metres, featuring a 15‑metre carriageway, 3‑metre sidewalks, new lighting and landscaping, with completion targeted for July 2026. Residents say the widened street has greatly improved safety and convenience.

In Ho Chi Minh City, authorities are preparing to widen Nguyen Duy Trinh road from its current 7‑8 metre width to 30 metres over a 1.6‑km stretch linking the city’s Ring Road 2 to the Phú Hữu industrial zone. The project, budgeted at VND 1.858 trillion (over VND 1.5 trillion for compensation and resettlement), will affect about 250 households. Land acquisition is slated for 2026, with construction to begin thereafter and the road expected to be operational by 2028. The upgrade aims to relieve chronic congestion and support the city’s expanding industrial and logistics sector.
