Vietnam explores EU expertise to advance quantum technology
Professor Nguyen Luong Quang, a member of the Vietnam Quantum Technology Network, suggests that Vietnam should leverage the European Union’s experience to develop its national quantum technology capabilities. Key priorities for the country include the development of highly skilled human resources through interdisciplinary programs in quantum physics, photonics, microchips, and artificial intelligence at leading universities.
To accelerate progress, Quang recommends implementing long-term scholarships, internships in European quantum laboratories, and mechanisms to attract Vietnamese specialists from the diaspora. He also proposes the gradual development of domestic research infrastructure, such as optics and photonics laboratories, which could be remotely connected to European quantum computing infrastructure to minimize initial investment costs.
Furthermore, the strategy emphasizes integrating Vietnamese technology, electronics, and software companies into the global quantum value chain. Potential areas of involvement include quantum programming, industrial process optimization, and the manufacturing of precision optical components. The government could support these efforts through tax incentives, innovation funds, and public procurement programs.
