Vietnam export turnover reaches $319.7 billion amid trade deficit

Vietnam's export turnover reached $319.7 billion by the end of July 2026, representing a 21.7% increase compared to the same period last year. This growth has already exceeded the full-year target of 15-16%.

Despite the strong export performance, the country recorded a trade deficit of approximately $20.3 billion. The deficit is primarily driven by imports of electronic components and products for high-tech production, energy resources such as petroleum and coal to ensure national energy security, and raw materials like chemicals and metals due to low domestic localization rates.

To promote sustainable export growth and manage the trade deficit, the Deputy Prime Minister has called for ministries, local authorities, and industry associations to focus on credit capital and policy improvements.
