Vietnam export turnover rises in EU and cinnamon markets
Vietnam reported significant growth in its export sectors during the first nine months of 2026. Total exports to the European Union reached $50.7 billion, a 21.7% increase compared to the same period last year. The five largest EU markets—the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Spain, and France—accounted for 66% of this total, worth $33.2 billion.
In the Netherlands, the largest individual market, exports reached $12.4 billion. Key drivers included computers, electronic products, and components, which grew by 53.8% to $3.7 billion. Other notable increases were seen in wood products, plastic products, and a 262% surge in toys and sporting goods.
In the spice sector, Vietnam exported 93,231 tons of cinnamon, generating $239.1 million, a 4.8% increase in value. While demand in Asia, the largest consumer region, fell by 5.8%, strong growth in the Americas—specifically a 27.3% increase in exports to the United States—helped maintain overall upward momentum.
