Severe Floods Swamp Parts of Henan Province, China

Heavy rain on the night of 12‑13 July caused flash flooding in the autonomous Manchu‑Khoan district of Thừa Đức, Henan Province, China. Water levels in urban streets rose to more than two metres, sweeping away parked cars and forcing the evacuation of residents from nine villages across four communes. Local authorities issued successive red alerts for rain, landslide and geological hazards, and organized rescue teams to assist about 1,800 people stranded by the flood. By the following morning the floodwaters had begun to recede, and cleanup crews started removing mud and debris to restore road access and normal activity.

No serious injuries or fatalities were reported, and officials said that external rescue assistance was not required. The situation remains under monitoring as authorities continue reconstruction and assess damage to infrastructure.
