Vietnam Fashion Week spotlights gowns on former beauty queens
The 21st Vietnam International Fashion Week took place from 18‑21 June 2026 at the Nguyễn Du Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City. Designers showcased a mix of haute couture and sustainable collections.
Designer Đặng Trọng Minh Châu presented the "Thủy Ảnh" collection, a line of áo dài made from recycled materials. Former Miss Universe Vietnam winners Nguyễn Thị Ngọc Châu and Nguyễn Trần Khánh Vân walked the runway in avant‑garde, water‑inspired designs.
Thảo Nguyễn debuted the Golden Heart Veil couture line, featuring gold‑champagne tones, heart motifs and hand‑set crystals. Vedettes H'Hen Niê, Miss Tata and Á Hậu Chế Nguyễn Quỳnh Châu modeled the pieces, with H'Hen Niê receiving the loudest applause. The show also included collections by Frederick Lee, Chung Chung Lee, Aden Nguyễn and others, highlighting themes from poetic femininity to athletic inspiration.
Notably, both H'Hen Niê and Quỳnh Châu returned to the catwalk shortly after giving birth, drawing media attention to their comeback. Overall, the week emphasized modern reinterpretations of traditional Vietnamese dress, sustainability, and the star power of former beauty pageant winners.
