Vietnam firms grapple with talent retention and banking strategy convergence

Vietnamese companies are confronting new challenges in managing multi‑generational workforces. Experts note that even with regular salary increases, many employees leave because they seek transparent, balanced work environments and recognition that align with Gen Z values. A proposed approach stresses comprehensive compensation, holistic wellbeing benefits, and conflict‑resolution mechanisms that respect cultural differences while leveraging technology for data transparency.

At the same time, Vietnam’s banking sector is seeing its business models become increasingly alike. Major banks are all pursuing higher CASA deposits, digital banking, retail expansion, cross‑selling of insurance, and improvements in ROE. Historically distinct strengths—such as Vietcombank’s international payments or Techcombank’s real‑estate ecosystem—are blurring as institutions converge on a universal banking model, making differentiation harder in the next decade.
