Vietnam fishing boat capsizes near Quang Ninh; captain missing, six rescued

A fishing vessel (QN-90568-TS) operating near the Cô Tô Special Zone in Quảng Ninh province sank on July 3. The boat carried seven crew members; six were rescued after a prolonged search in rough seas caused by a storm, while the captain, Nguyễn Văn Thành, remains missing. Local authorities, including the commune People's Committee, the provincial Marine and Fisheries Agency, and border guard units, coordinated rescue and ongoing search efforts. The cause of the sinking is under investigation.

The incident prompted officials to visit the captain’s family and continue coordinated search operations despite challenging weather conditions.
