Vietnam flights diverted to Cambodia amid storm in Ho Chi Minh City

On the evening of 11 June, a widespread thunderstorm over Ho Chi Minh City disrupted take‑offs and landings at Tan Son Nhat airport. Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet announced flight delays and forced diversions for safety.

Flight VN678 from Kuala Lumpur, scheduled to land at 20:35, was held over Ca Mau province before being redirected to Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Singapore‑origin flight VJ812 was also held before landing at Cam Ranh airport in Khánh Hòa province. A domestic service, VN1267 from Vinh, likewise diverted to Phnom Penh and later returned to Ho Chi Minh City.

The regional meteorological agency issued continuous warnings for heavy rain, gusts, lightning and hail, reporting rainfall between 20 mm and over 100 mm across the city. Passengers were advised to monitor airline updates for revised schedules.
