Vietnam Football Federation outlines strategic goals for women's football and futsal
The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) is implementing long-term development strategies following significant milestones, including the women's national team's historic qualification for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Under its current term, the federation has overseen successes such as the women's team reaching the 2026 Asian Cup finals and the U17 women's team reaching the quarterfinals of the 2026 AFC U-17 Women's Asian Cup.
To sustain this momentum, the VFF announced a development strategy in June 2025 aimed at qualifying for the 2031 Women's World Cup. This initiative is supported by the AFC and UEFA, providing access to modern management and training methodologies.
Beyond women's football, the federation's recent term has seen the men's national team win the ASEAN Cup in 2024 and 2026, and various youth teams achieve regional dominance. Experts emphasize that future success, including potential qualification for the 2030 World Cup, will require stable governance, deep youth training, and continued financial investment from both the private sector and society.
