Vietnam agricultural and seafood sectors report diverse export growth

Vietnam's agricultural and seafood sectors report varied performance in mid-September 2026. In the seafood industry, tuna exports to Russia surged by 72% in the first seven months, reaching $33.4 million. Similarly, pangasius (tra fish) exports to the United Kingdom grew by 23%, totaling $43 million, driven by a rising demand for value-added processed products like fish burgers and breaded fillets.

In the footwear and bag sector, exports to the United States exceeded $8 billion during the first eight months of the year. While the US remains the largest market, growth in other regions like the EU and CPTPP has shown mixed results.

In the commodities market, domestic pepper prices remained stable at approximately 137,000 to 141,000 VND/kg. Meanwhile, domestic pork prices saw slight increases in Northern provinces like Hung Yen and Lang Son, reaching up to 60,000 VND/kg, while prices in the South and Central regions remained steady.

Additionally, Russia has announced a significant increase in its 2027 opilio snow crab harvest quota to 37,584 tons, the highest level since at least 2013, while decreasing its cod quota.
