Vietnam government orders acceleration of northern expressway projects

The Vietnamese Government has issued an official dispatch to accelerate the progress of expressway construction projects in the northern region. The directive, signed by Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc, targets several ministries and provincial authorities, including Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Ninh Binh, and others.

The initiative aims to implement resolutions from the 14th National Party Congress to develop modern, synchronized infrastructure and stimulate public investment. This is intended to drive rapid, sustainable economic growth, with a goal of achieving double-digit growth rates in 2026 and beyond.

Currently, seven expressway routes consisting of 14 component projects are under construction in the northern provinces. While progress has been made, officials noted that some projects face challenges regarding land clearance and the supply of construction materials. Certain projects scheduled for completion in 2026 still require significant effort to meet their deadlines.
