Vietnam government targets over 10% growth in 2026 and full budget disbursement

The Vietnamese government, led by Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng and Deputy Prime Minister Phạm Gia Túc, set a goal of achieving more than 10% growth in Ho Chi Minh City’s GRDP for 2026. In the first half of the year, the city recorded an 8.55% increase, outpacing the national average of 8.18% but still below the annual target. Public‑investment disbursement reached only 34.9% of the plan, placing the city 24th out of 34 provinces.

At a national level, the Prime Minister’s 11 July notice demanded that all four national target programmes accelerate implementation and reach 100% disbursement of central‑government funds for 2026, including funds carried over from 2021‑2025. The government highlighted slow progress, especially in rural development, poverty reduction, and projects for ethnic minority and mountainous regions, and ordered ministries to enforce accountability, tighten monitoring, and eliminate delays.

Both directives stress the need for clearer responsibilities, tighter timelines, and stronger coordination across ministries to ensure that investment flows reach the intended projects and that the 2026 growth objectives are met.
