Vietnam government targets two‑digit growth and tightens budget oversight

At a June 2026 meeting of the Ministry of Construction, Minister Tran Hồng Minh stressed frequent monitoring of tasks, 100 % completion of standards and the ministry’s contribution to the national goal of two‑digit economic growth.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s Directive 28 ordered ministries, provinces and agencies to recover all budget funds used improperly, tighten control of tax, fee and state budget spending, and cancel or reclaim any transfers that exceed authorized limits.

The State Inspectorate reported violations worth VND 44.6 trillion in the first half of 2026, recommending the recovery of VND 631.5 billion from the state budget and VND 23.2 trillion from organisations and individuals.

Hanoi’s Party Secretary Trần Đức Thắng set a target of at least 11 % GRDP growth for 2026, citing strong industrial output, retail sales and tourism, while acknowledging the need to resolve bottlenecks in land allocation and project implementation.

Provincial leaders in Sơn La, Thanh Hóa, Đăk Lắk and other regions outlined concrete measures—accelerated public‑investment disbursement, removal of construction material shortages, and promotion of renewable‑energy projects—to lift growth in the second half of the year and sustain the two‑digit national target.
