Vietnam grants school principals authority to issue high school diplomas

The Ministry of Education and Training announced that the results of the 2026 high‑school graduation exam, involving more than 1.2 million candidates nationwide, will be published at 08:00 on 1 July 2026.

A separate amendment to the 2025 Education Law gives school principals or heads of educational institutions the right to sign and issue high‑school diplomas, a responsibility previously held by provincial education authorities. The change is intended to increase school autonomy, improve accountability, and enable digital management of diploma data across the country. Officials said the new procedure will require schools to maintain rigorous records and adopt unified verification systems to prevent fraud.
