Vietnam Health Insurance Fund covers billions in student medical costs

The Vietnam Health Insurance Fund has provided significant financial support for student medical treatments. In 2025, the fund covered more than 8.04 million visits for students, totaling 3,926.6 billion VND, representing a 16% increase in spending compared to 2024.

During the first half of 2026, the fund paid approximately 2,145 billion VND for over 4.09 million medical visits by students and university students. Notable high-cost cases include a student receiving over 1.369 billion VND for blood disorder and bone marrow failure treatment, and another receiving over 1.152 billion VND for sepsis and post-surgical complications. Other significant payouts were made for arrhythmia, cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and lupus erythematosus.
