Vietnam's northern and central regions face intense heatwave until early June

The Vietnam National Center for Hydro‑Meteorological Forecasts warned that from 5 June the northern and central parts of the country are experiencing a severe heatwave. Temperatures are reaching 35‑39 °C with relative humidity as low as 45‑60 %, and some locations report “extreme heat”.

From 8‑9 June the agency expects moderate to heavy rain, especially in mountainous areas, accompanied by occasional thunderstorms. These showers should gradually ease the soaring temperatures.

Officials highlighted heightened risks of wildfires, heat‑related illnesses, and, with the coming rain, possible flooding or landslides. Residents are advised to limit outdoor activities during peak heat, stay well hydrated, and follow safety precautions to prevent fires and protect against sudden storms.
