Vietnam highway safety: Drivers urged to follow strict distance and lane rules
As traffic volume increases during the September 2nd holiday, drivers in Vietnam are being urged to adhere to stricter highway safety regulations. Authorities are increasing enforcement regarding safe following distances and proper lane usage.
Key safety guidelines include maintaining appropriate distances based on speed: at least 35 meters for 60 km/h, 70 meters for 80-100 km/h, and 100 meters for 100-120 km/h. Drivers are also reminded that the left lane should be used exclusively for overtaking.
Failure to comply with safe distance regulations can result in fines ranging from 4 to 6 million VND and a deduction of 2 driver's license points. If such behavior leads to an accident, penalties increase to between 20 and 22 million VND.
