Vietnam implements educational restructuring and digital reforms

Vietnam is undergoing significant educational reforms focused on restructuring school networks and enhancing digital integration. Deputy Prime Minister Lê Tiến Châu has emphasized that while consolidating educational institutions is a strategic goal to streamline management, the ultimate metrics for success must be educational quality, student safety, and student rights.

Reports indicate that the reorganization of preschools and general education institutions has led to a reduction of 18,975 public educational facilities, with over 28,000 management staff reassigned to teaching roles. Authorities have been instructed to review and adjust institutions that have become too large to manage effectively following these mergers.

In addition to structural changes, the government is moving toward digital management for compulsory education and literacy programs. This includes using unique identification codes to track student progress and ensuring that educational services reach residents based on their actual location rather than permanent household registration.

Efforts are also being made to improve infrastructure in disadvantaged and border regions, including the construction of multi-level boarding schools to support ethnic minority students and ensure social security in strategic areas.
