Vietnam hosts international workshop on supreme audit institutions

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with leaders of international auditing organizations in Vietnam during an international workshop titled “Supreme Audit Institutions in a New Context: Vision, Institutions, and Innovation.” The event was organized by the State Audit Office of Vietnam.

Chairman Tran Thanh Man emphasized that modern, transparent, and accountable national governance is essential as Vietnam aims to become a high-income developed nation by 2045. He highlighted five core orientations for auditing bodies, stressing that supreme audit institutions must act as reliable pillars to maintain financial discipline, prevent corruption and waste, and identify policy bottlenecks.

He noted that the value of auditing should be measured by positive changes in governance rather than just the amount of money recovered. He also stressed that institutional independence is a prerequisite for auditing bodies to respect the truth and protect public interests through objective and professional practice.
