Vietnam implements digital capacity indices and infrastructure upgrades
Vietnam is implementing new frameworks to measure and drive digital transformation across government and party sectors. A new decision has established a digital capacity index to evaluate the digital proficiency of officials, civil servants, and employees within party agencies. This index assesses awareness, knowledge, and technical skills, as well as the readiness of agencies to adopt digital systems. The results will serve as a basis for annual performance reviews and quality classifications.
In Phu Tho province, digital transformation is being utilized as a strategic lever for economic growth. The province is transitioning its growth model from resource-based to knowledge and technology-based. Significant investments in digital infrastructure have been made, with 100% of communes and wards connected via broadband fiber optics and 4G mobile networks covering 98% of the natural area. Additionally, the number of 5G base stations has increased sevenfold, providing coverage to urban centers and key industrial zones to reduce development gaps in remote areas.
