Vietnam implements fiscal and banking reforms to drive economic growth
Vietnam is implementing diverse financial strategies to support economic growth and capital development. The State Bank of Vietnam has emphasized the need to diversify medium- and long-term financial resources by combining bank credit with public investment, public-private partnerships (PPP), capital markets, and Official Development Assistance (ODA) to ensure the sustainability of major projects.
Legislative updates include the promulgation of orders regarding amendments to several laws, specifically affecting the State Bank of Vietnam Law, the Law on Prevention and Combat of Money Laundering, and the Law on Credit Institutions.
On the fiscal side, Vietnam's state budget revenue for the first eight months of 2026 is estimated at 2,023.8 trillion VND, representing 80% of the annual target and a 16% increase compared to the same period last year. Domestic revenue accounted for 1,752.9 trillion VND. To support businesses and consumers, the government has maintained significant fiscal policies, such as reducing Value Added Tax (VAT) from 10% to 8% for various goods and services through the end of 2026.
