Vietnam implements flood mitigation and traffic bans
Authorities in Vietnam are implementing flood mitigation and safety measures across different regions. In Hanoi, the Department of Construction has issued traffic bans on several sections of Thang Long Boulevard due to rising river levels. Specifically, the service roads between Km26 and Km28, along with several underpasses, are experiencing flooding depths of 0.7 to 1 meter. Traffic diversion plans have been implemented to ensure safety and prevent congestion.
In Ho Chi Minh City, officials have approved a plan to proactively manage water levels in six major reservoirs: Song Ray, Da Den, Song Hoa, Chau Pha, Suoi Cac, and Minh Dam. By maintaining lower water levels than standard operating procedures, the city aims to create additional capacity to absorb heavy rainfall and reduce downstream flow pressure. This strategy includes adjusting water levels based on seasonal weather forecasts to balance flood control with the need for domestic and industrial water supplies.
