Vietnam implements new 2026 university admission regulations

Vietnam's Ministry of Education and Training has implemented new regulations for the 2026 university and college admissions cycle. According to Nguyen Tien Thao, Director of the Department of Higher Education, the process has transitioned from administrative management to a data-driven governance model. All candidate registrations, admissions, fee payments, and enrollments are now conducted 100% online through digital systems, including the National Public Service Portal.

New minimum score requirements have been established for various fields. For general university admission, candidates must achieve a minimum of 15 points across a three-subject combination from the high school graduation exam. Specific sectors have higher thresholds: Medicine and Odonto-Stomatology require 22 points; Traditional Medicine and Pharmacy require 20 points; Law requires 20 points; and Teacher Training requires 20 points. Other specialized fields such as Physical Education, Music Pedagogy, and Fine Arts Pedagogy have a threshold of 19 points, while Nursing and related medical technical fields require 18 points.
