Vietnam infrastructure projects face delays amid land and technical hurdles
Major infrastructure and transportation projects across various regions in Vietnam are facing significant progress challenges due to land clearance issues, material shortages, and technical difficulties.
In Quang Ngai, several provincial road upgrades, including routes 676, 671, and 675, are experiencing delays. Specifically, the 56km expansion of route 676 has only reached 50% completion, hindered by fragmented land handover in areas like Mang But.
In Dong Nai, work on the Ring Road 3 component project is entering a final phase, with 80% of contract value achieved. Authorities are currently working to terminate a contract with a struggling contractor to ensure the project meets its October 2026 completion target.
Da Nang is focusing on 34 key large-scale projects for the 2026-2030 period, including the Lien Chieu Container Port. However, regional connectivity projects face hurdles regarding compensation, resettlement, and technical infrastructure relocation.
The Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot expressway, intended to connect the Central Highlands to the coast, has missed previous technical operation deadlines. Challenges include forest land use conversion procedures, labor shortages, and complex geological conditions at the Phuong Hoang tunnel.
