Vietnam integrates AI into school curricula and teaching

Educational institutions in Vietnam are increasingly integrating artificial intelligence into their curricula and teaching methods. In Lao Cai province, some preschools are utilizing AI as a supportive tool to enrich learning materials and innovate educational activities.

In Hanoi, the Department of Education and Training has issued a plan to implement AI education for general education students and continuing education learners. Starting from the 2026–2027 school year, students will receive 12 periods of core AI knowledge per year, covering topics such as human-centered thinking, AI ethics, techniques, applications, and system design. This initiative aims to be implemented without additional costs to families or separate grading requirements.

Experts emphasize that successful implementation depends more on teacher training and infrastructure than on expensive hardware. Professor Le Anh Vinh of the Institute for Educational Strategy and Policy noted that the goal is to help students understand the technological world, recognize benefits and risks, and use technology safely and responsibly, rather than simply teaching them how to use specific tools like ChatGPT.
