Vietnam expands OCOP product markets via tourism and digital trade
Vietnam is implementing various strategies to expand the market reach of One Commune One Product (OCOP) goods and local specialties through tourism, high-end supply chains, and digital platforms.
In Lao Cai, an OCOP promotion and connection space will be organized in 2026 as part of the Northwest Tourism Fair and Muong Lo Cultural and Tourism Festival. The event aims to enhance the OCOP brand for domestic and international tourists, featuring 22 booths from 10 provinces showcasing seafood, bird's nests, agricultural products, and handicrafts.
Simultaneously, businesses are being encouraged to enter the HORECA (Hotel, Restaurant, and Catering) sector. Experts note that as tourism grows and the middle class expands, HORECA is becoming a vital distribution channel requiring high standards of quality, supply stability, and professional logistics.
In Nghe An, the provincial government has issued a plan for e-commerce development for the 2026-2030 period. This initiative seeks to help OCOP entities transition from traditional markets to digital platforms, shortening the distance between producers and consumers while fostering a digital and green economy.
