Vietnam intensifies dengue fever prevention amid rising cases

Health authorities in Vietnam are intensifying efforts to combat rising dengue fever outbreaks in Hanoi and Dak Lak provinces.

In Hanoi, the Department of Health has reported 1,259 cases across 115 communes and wards as of early August. Officials warn that unpredictable weather patterns are facilitating mosquito breeding, increasing the risk of new outbreaks. The city is prioritizing community awareness campaigns to encourage residents to eliminate standing water and mosquito breeding sites.

In Dak Lak, the situation is more severe, with nearly 3,700 recorded cases and one death reported as of August 12. The province has identified 160 outbreaks, 67 of which remain active. The Dak Lak Department of Health has directed local authorities to focus on environmental sanitation, larvae destruction, and chemical spraying in high-risk areas such as schools and construction sites. Medical facilities have been instructed to ensure adequate supplies of medicine and equipment to treat high-risk groups, including children and the elderly.
